Round 1. Judging a character

1. Our behavior is a nature or nurture (воспитание)?
2. What set of values (набор жизненных ценностей) do you have?
3. What attribute do you take to (like) in people? Being spontaneous, happy-go-lucky (беззаботный), passionate (увлеченный), considerate (тактичный, внимательный, with integrity (порядочный), down-to-earth (парктичный), a rebel (бунтарь), your ideas…
4. What qualities are important for your professional field and work in general? Do you have to be quick-witted (сообразительный) or shrewd (проницательный), ruthless (жестокий) or pushy (напористый), conscientious (добросовестный, трудолюбивый), trustworthy (надёжный) , charismatic or assertive (решительный)
5. What kind of people get up your nose (annoys you very much)?
conceited (самодовольный), a chatterbox (пустомеля), pretentious (надменный), cunning (хитрый), cynical (циничный), hypocritical (лицемерные)?
6. Do you think it is possible to «judge book by its cover»? In other words, to judge a person on how they appear on the surface (на первый взгляд)?
  • Why are some people aloof (отсранённый) and standoffish (скованный)?
  • Can personality traits be misleading (обманчивый)?
  • Is it bad to be cunning, impulsive, naive, cynical or cruel?


Round 2. Relationships

  1. Do you try to create a close bond (тесная связь) with people you know? How do you do it?
  2. Do you look up to (восхищаться) anyone? For what remarkable (выдающийся) personal qualities?
  3. Is it better to follow in someone's footsteps (следовать примеру) or choose your own way?
  4. Have you ever met people who where hostile (враждебны) to you? What did you feel about that? Did it change over time?
  5. What factors usually put strain on (создаёт напряженность) relationship - in family, at work, among friends?
  6. Did you stick up for (заступаться) anyone or maybe someone stuck up for you
  7. How could a person gain your respect (заслужить уважение)?
  8. Who do you confined in (доверять)?
  9. What are ups and downs (взлёты и падения) in you relationship with people?
  10. Are you ready for sacrifices (жертвы) for another person? To what extent?

Round 3. Time

  • What events break things up and make your life a bit more interesting? (to break things up — разбавлять привычный ход вещей)
  • Do you have to pull your socks up for some upcoming tasks / events? (to pull your socks up — напрячься, чтобы что-то улучшить)
  • How much time do you set aside for improving your English? What do you do? (to set aside — выделять время)
  • Which things do you always fit in and put back? (to fit in — вписывать врасписание; to put back — откладывать)
  • When do you feel like you fritter time away? (to fritter time away — тратить время на ненужные вещи)
  • Do your memories sometimes flood back? About what events & experiences? (to flood back — нахлынуть)
  • What past events in your life summon up happy memories? (to summon up — вызывать в памяти)

Round 4. Professional conduct (behaviour)

  1. What aspects make your work meaningful (значимый) and enjoyable to you? Earning a good living (хорошая зарплата), a team, self-development, job security (гарантия занятости), benefits package (пакет льгот) ?
  2. Is it important for you to express your ideas and creativity at work?
  3. What is your vision (видение) of success? What will your accomplishments (достижения) be in 5 years?
  4. How would you describe your character to an employer?
  5. What was the hardest decision you made?
  6. Have you ever faced a dilemma at work? If so, what was the issue, and what did you do?
  7. What are pros and cons (за и против) of freelance work?
  8. Should the company you work for be environmentally-friendly / socially responsible (helps society)? Should it support respect for an individual / collaboration / passion / diversity (разнообразие)?
